Staying Safe on iNetGiant Classifieds

Any time consumers are buying and selling through classifieds, they need to be concerned with safety. While most users of this site are honest and ready to do business with you, online scammers are out there, and they may try to use this site to take advantage of others. That is why consumers need to be proactive in learning how to take care of themselves.

How to Stay Safe

Knowing the types of warning signs to look for will help you stay safe while using our classifieds site. You can find these on our Safety Guidelines page, where we share tips for keeping yourself safe and communicating effectively through email. You can also learn more on our Common Scams page, where we outline some of the more popular scams being pulled through online classifieds sites like ours.

We also recommend that you do all business in person and locally. It is far easier to scam someone online than in person. Arrange to meet the individual to exchange the funds for the goods at a safe location in your community.

Keep in mind that, while we strive to keep our community safe, we do not offer any sort of buyer protection program. When you choose to buy and sell through our site, you are responsible for your own safety. Becoming fully informed is your important responsibility.

How We Protect You

We have implemented fraud detection technology throughout our site. This detects and then removes potential scam listings daily. In addition, we have a human team that spends time each day visiting the site to ensure that there are not problems getting past the software. In this way, we are working around the clock to prevent scammers from accessing our site.

You can help too. If you notice a listing that seems suspicious, you can use our reporting system to make us aware of it. The more people who do this, the better our chances of effectively removing those who want to take advantage of the people who use our site.

How to Report a Listing

If you notice a listing that seems suspicious, look for the “report” button on the bottom of each listing. Reporting a listing does not automatically remove it. Rather, it allows our team of inspectors to take a closer look and determine if it should, in fact, be removed.

What types of postings should you report? We would like you to report postings that are:

  • Fraudulent

  • Illegal

  • Spam

  • Scams

  • Trademark violations

  • Contain discriminatory language

If we work together, we can make our site a safe place to do business.
