Social Media's New Influences in Online Searches

We all know that social media is very important to branding and customer relations. On a smaller level, social media is important for interacting with your favorite brands and companies, and ways to keep updated and get promotions and discounts. It's also great for sharing photos with Mom. But how does social media affect online searches?

Two major online search engines, Google and Bing, have both admitted that search results are influenced by Facebook likes, by Google +1s, tweets, and more. Feedback from the overall community creates more trusted results, and social media is a great way to tap into what other people think of certain topics. As time goes on, it makes sense to assume that social media will only factor more into what people are looking for.

And what does this mean for ads you place?

It means that it's more important than ever to share on facebook, tweet on twitter, +1 on Google+ to get more hits. Not only will this be beneficial as it brings your own social circles to your ads, but it will also affect searches of your ads in general. On your ad page, on the right hand column, you'll see very convenient buttons that allow you to do just that. Share organically (don't spam your contacts!) and people will respond, positively. Like us on facebook and follow us on Twitter and we'll do the same for you and help you spread the message!
