Industries Hiring in 2011

There is finally some light shining through the dark economy. A significant rise in percentage for hiring in certain industries has given many people hope for the future. Companies and managers are making announcements that they will be hiring full time workers during 2011 much more than the past 2 years.

As job listings are on the rise, it seems as though a recovery is on the way .

There are 6 particular industries that have seen a significant rise in hiring, according to Indeed.com

1. Health Care- 40% increase in hiring.
Job growth continues to rise for nurses and patient- care technicians.

2.Retail. Job listings are up 89% in November, from January.

Its finally looking up for the retail business since the recession hit a few years ago. People  are shopping more, especially during the holidays.

Here are a few retailers that have announced full time hiring in 2011:

Sears, JCPenny, Staples, Advanced Auto Parts and AT&T

3. Information Technology. Job listings are up 75%.

There is a strong demand for network engineers, software engineers, and cloud computing specialists. Mainly because of increased computer networking, expanding technologies and the need for more security on those systems.

Who's doing the most hiring?

Microsoft, Amazon, IBM, General Dynamics, SAIC and Northrop Grumman.

4. Financial Services and Banking. Job listings are up 73% in November, from January.

There has been an increase in demand for financial analysts, financial advisors, auditors, and lending specialists.

Some companies that are hiring:

Bank of America, JPMorgan Chase, Wells Fargo, Citigroup and PNC.



5. Transportation. Job listings are up 186% in November, from January.

The manufacturing business picked up so drivers and warehouse workers are needed to  transport goods. Transportation jobs have increased about 11 percent per month on average this year, nearly twice that of any other industry.

Companies that are hiring:

UPS, FedEx, Heartland Express, Schneider National, C.R. England and Central Refrigerated.

6. Accounting. Job listings are up 58%.

Due to an increase in the number of businesses, changes in financial laws and corporate governance regulations the need  for accountability has risen.

Some companies that are hiring in the Accounting industry:

KPMG, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Ernst & Young, Bank of America, Deloitte and ADP.
